What We Believe
To be a Presbyterian, one need only affirm faith that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior and Sovereign. No other dogmatic assertions are required. Our name conveys the fact that we are a church governed by elders - officers elected by the congregation. Having started with the Protestant Reformation, our basic beliefs are reflected by Reformed theology. While members do not all agree on certain matters or issues (we assert that God alone is Lord of the conscience), it is important for us to consider those traditional beliefs springing from scripture. For more information about what we believe, please contact the church office (818) 788-1147 to be put in touch with Pastor Curtis or Pastor Janelle.
Our Mission
Scripture calls the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We affirm this challenge to be our basic purpose, recognizing that it is a lifetime task for all of us. Discipleship is an on-going journey. It is a journey that is initiated and empowered by God's Spirit enriched and expanded through our worship, education, fellowship and outreach. As disciples, we are to care for and serve, not just ourselves, but all of God's children throughout the world.
Our Vision
Our vision, rooted in God's grace, is to become a more effective community of faith - a community characterized as inclusive, committed, nurturing, serving and witnessing - - modeling and sharing the ever new possibilities Christ brings to all of us. |
